  • Increase access and funding for Ozempic, Wegovy, Trulicity, and Mounjaro in NZ
In 2023, an estimated 323,700 people in NZ had diabetes. The 2021 Economic and Social Cost Of Type 2 Diabetes report predicted the number with type 2 diabetes would increase by 70-90% in 20 years. It estimated the annual cost of diabetes at $2.1 billion, projected to increase by 63% to $3.5 billion in 20 years. Better access to drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Trulicity, and Mounjaro would save taxpayer money, bring down obesity rates, and control type 2 diabetes. A link to our Parliament Petition

  • Our children with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis deserve the same care as adults!
For years, the hospital has acknowledged the critical importance of this role in providing standard-of-care treatment for children with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. However, no IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist has been employed at Starship. It is time that Starship honoured the lives of the children that have been impacted by their inaction, and employ an IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist.

  • Fair wages for Huckleberry workers
Dear Huckleberry, As a brand selling organic and ethical products, we assumed that you would pay your staff a Living Wage. We are really disappointed to hear that this is not the case, and that you have disagreed to move to Living Wage when asked to do so in union bargaining. Workers deserve to earn enough money to live with dignity in our society. This is what a Living Wage is for. Investing in the wellbeing of your workers should come before opening new stores and expanding your business. Your customers shop with Huckleberry because we believe in the organic and ethical ethos you present. We expect you to be leading by example, not lagging behind. We urge you to act according to your principles and pay your staff a fair wage.
