Repaint the rainbow crossing on Cuba Street to be trans-inclusive

I'm calling on the Wellington Council to repaint the rainbow crossing so that it's the same as the one on K Road in Auckland, and includes trans people and people of colour.

There's been a lot of division in the rainbow community in Wellington during recent years, and this would be a great symbol of kotahitanga, as well as representing the special role that takatāpui have historically held in the local culture.

Why is this important?

In my own years of experience in the rainbow community, I've noticed that people of colour and trans people are often complaining of feeling like they aren't feeling included by the Pride celebration in Wellington, and have held boycotts in recent years decrying the assimilated rainbow corporates and commodification of Pride.

Slightly OTT, perhaps, but the mamae is very real. This would be a sign that our Māori mayor is supportive of the Māori rainbow and trans community.

Do we really want Auckland to be seen as more woke than us? We're the gay capital of New Zealand, so let's include everyone!
