Give Sagar Narayan permanent residency in New Zealand

We won! 'NZ residency a relief for family' http://fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=429251

Dear Immigration New Zealand,

Sagar Narayan should be granted permanent residency in New Zealand and should not be deported back to Fiji. He needs to be with his family. They are the only people he knows. He has no one to support him in Fiji - no family to look after him, no centre/home to look after him, no government support.

Why is this important?

Sagar Narayan is a 20 year old Fijian man with intellectual disabilities who functions like a 6 year old. He has been living in New Zealand with his family for eight years. Immigration New Zealand gave his parents and 3 siblings permanent residency in New Zealand but will deport Sagar at the end of October because "New Zealand health system has limited funds".

He has no family in Fiji and no government support there. His parents fear for his life if he is deported. His family are his primary care givers and they are the only people he knows. His family say they will continue to look after him and he will not be a burden on NZ if Sagar is allowed to stay.

Immigration NZ argues that Sagar’s needs are a drain on New Zealand's health system, but his family are his primary caregivers. All they want is to have him with them, they will look after him. This should not be an economic question and there needs to be compassion. This is a family being pulled apart. This is a man who understands the world like a 6 year old does. Would you deport a 6 year old and separate them from their family?

As New Zealand citizens we are horrified by your decision to deport Sagar. We say he is welcome here. We want you to give him permanent residency with the rest of his family.

Tell Immigration New Zealand that Sagar is welcome here!
