Together for Te Tiriti events
Organiser Instructions
It’s time to come together with our communities to show our support for Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mobilise people to oppose the Treaty Principles Bill.
The Treaty Principles Bill is part of a suite of attacks from the Coalition Government that aims to undermine and disempower Te Tiriti o Waitangi. One way we defeat this Bill is through the select committee process: by creating a wave of submissions to show the mass support for an Aotearoa where Te Tiriti is honoured. You can help build this wave by running a submissions party at your home, club or establishment before submissions close on January 7th. This provides a space to support people to make submissions and share their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and opposition to the Treaty Principles Bill with others.
Fill out this form to let people know about a submissions party that you are hosting, and we will list it on our Together for Te Tiriti events hub where people can register. (Please note that as ActionStation is closed down from December 20th to January 6th, we may take up to 5 working days to review and approve your event to go up on the events hub during this period. We apologise for any inconvenience!)
Make sure you have a read through our submissions party pack. This pack includes a suggested runsheet for the event, a video to play to attendees, how to make submissions and importantly, how everyone can take their submissions to the people by filming a short video for social media. As you plan your submissions party we also welcome you to consider how you can centre manaakitanga and make it a safe and comfortable space for the people you are hosting.
At your event, you can use our online submission tool to write unique submissions. Submissions don’t need to be complicated, they just need to clearly state opposition to the Bill. Feel free to draw from personal experience and share specific reasons for opposing the Bill.
Let’s get Together for Te Tiriti!
